Updating the Nissan Altima for 2022

The Nissan Altima has been a popular choice for drivers looking for a sporty, spacious, and well-equipped midsize sedan. As the 2022 models hit the showrooms at our Nissan dealership near Greenwood, MO, it’s worthwhile to look at the differences between the 2022 Nissan Altima vs. 2021 models.

Impressive Performance with Standard Driver-Assistive Features

Both model years feature the same powertrain choices. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that delivers 188 horsepower. Drivers who want a sporty ride can choose the SR trim with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 248 horsepower. The Altima has standard front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional.

Drivers who choose the 2.5-liter engine with FWD will get an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 28/39 MPG. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 25/34 MPG.

Nissan includes several standard safety features on all trims. The base S trim includes a Rearview Camera, Forward Collision Warning, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic High-Beams, and Driver Drowsiness Monitoring. These features are standard on the 2021 and 2022 models. Buyers can upgrade the Altima by adding a Driver Assist package with a Surround View Camera System, Rear Parking Sensors, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Styling Features and Trim Levels

Nissan offers the Altima in five distinctive trim levels. The midsize sedan in the S trim has a 7.0-inch infotainment system with a touchscreen and six speakers, Bluetooth, and two USB ports. It also has cloth upholstery, keyless entry, and remote start. Buyers who upgrade to the SV trim get an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. It also has more standard safety features. Buyers can upgrade to the SV Premium with a power moonroof, heated front seats, and ProPilot Assist technology.

The SR trim adds sporty features and the turbocharged engine. The SL and Platinum trims add leather seating, navigation, an upgraded Bose premium audio system, and additional standard high-tech features. The Platinum also has standard all-wheel drive.

The noticeable difference between the 2022 Nissan Altima vs. 2021 models is the optional Midnight Edition that buyers can add to the SR trim. This feature includes black exterior accents, LED fog lights, a power moonroof, heated front seats, and heated exterior mirrors. In 2021, Nissan removed Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from the base S trim.
