Nissan redesigned the 2022 Frontier pickup adding new features inside and out, including additional payload. The Frontier comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The compact truck gets an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 18/24 MPG when equipped with rear-wheel drive. Four Well-Equipped Trims Levels

The 2022 Nissan Frontier specs include four trims with several available packages. Buyers can choose the King Cab or Crew Cab and the long box (6-foot bed) or short box (5-foot bed)in the S and SV trims. Buyers who choose the Frontier SV can get the Crew Cab with the long bed. The Pro-X and Pro-4X come with the Crew Cab with the short bed.

The base trim is the S, and it features an 8.0-inch touchscreen with SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. The S also comes with six speakers, two USB ports, and a push-button start. The standard safety features include Forward Collision Warning, Forward Automatic Braking, Driver Drowsiness Monitoring, and a Rearview Camera.

The 2022 Frontier SV comes with premium cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a sliding rear window. This trim includes the available SV Convenience package with Utili-track, in-bed lighting, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, in-bed power outlets, and other features.

The Pro-X comes with performance features for off-roading including Utili-track, Bilstein shock absorbers, and tech features like a 9.0-inch touchscreen, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 10-speaker audio system. Buyers can add the available Pro Premium package with a sunroof, leather upholstery, and a Fender audio system.

The top level is the Frontier Pro-4X trim with standard four-wheel drive and added skid plates. Buyers can add the Technology package to any trim. This safety package adds Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Rear Parking Sensors, Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Frontier Towing and Cab Specs

The 2022 model year Frontier combinations include the King Cab and the Crew Cab. The King Cab has seats for four with rear doors that open from the back. The Crew Cab has typical forward-facing hinges with rear doors that open with a large bench seat for five.

Drivers looking to tow a substantial amount of weight should turn to a full-size truck. But, the compact Nissan Frontier in the S trim with a King Cab and rear-wheel drive can tow up to 6,720 pounds.
